NACHA—The Electronic Payments Association is a not-for-profit association that oversees the Automated Clearing House (ACH) Network, one of the largest electronic payment networks in the world. NACHA supports the growth of the ACH Network by managing its development, administration, and governance. The ACH Network facilitates global commerce by serving as a safe, efficient, ubiquitous, and high-quality electronic payment system. NACHA represents nearly 11,000 financial institutions through 17 regional payments associations and direct membership. ECCHO (Electronic Check Clearing House Organization) is a not-for-profit, mutual benefit, national clearinghouse that is 100 percent owned by its member institutions. Any depository financial institution, regardless of size, is eligible for membership in ECCHO. ECCHO was created in 1990 by banks as a cooperative venture to encourage the implementation of electronic check presentment (ECP). While each of the 17 Regional Payments Association stands as a separate organization, all serve the common cause of providing essential benefits to their members. These benefits include NACHA Operating Rules guidance and operational
